Come experience Lent in a fresh new way … through the gentle practice of yoga set to contemplative Christian music.  No experience necessary, just bring a mat and an open heart!  Suggested donation of $10, half of which will go towards local mission work.  Tuesdays, 5-6pm in the Chapel at Southminster.

A Lenten Reflection Event

Did you know something as simple as breathing can draw us closer to God?

Repeating words of Scripture – a few on the inhale and a few on the exhale – is what is known as the ancient practice of breath prayer.  Body prayer is similar and includes simple postures made famous by the great mystic Julien of Norwich.  Both forms of prayer offer empowering ways to reflect on your Lenten journey.

As we prepare for Holy Week, join us for a special hour of quiet music and gentle movement (mostly seated in a chair) … and experience breath as prayer, body as prayer!

Kathy Lee Gifford and Rabbi Jason Sobel take us to  locations in today’s Jerusalem.  They discuss  important events in Jesus’ final days as he suffered, died and rose from the dead three days later.  The process of his arrest, trial, procession to Golgotha, and crucifixion bear striking parallels to the Roman procession known as the triumph. We rejoice in the triumph of new life  that  Jesus offers us through faith in his sacrifice on the cross for our sins and the promise that his resurrection offers us.
